Equipped with patented WindTunnel technology, this bagless upright vacuum delivers powerful, deep-down cleaning performance. It uses three distinct air channels to lift and trap dirt, keeping it from scattering back into the carpet, so dirt ends up in the cleaner not on the floor. With red and green lights, its embedded DirtFinder system indicates areas that may need more cleaning attention. The green "clean" light remains on while vacuuming except when the detector senses a larger amount of dirt; then the red "dirty" light will illuminate to suggest additional vacuuming in the area until the light changes back to green. The unit also traps 99.97-percent of dust and pollens down to 0.3 microns in size thanks to its HEPA filter. Even more, it provides a deluxe stretch hose, a complete on-board tool set for above-floor cleaning, and a pet-hair tool with rotating brushes that effectively removes stubborn pet hair and dirt from upholstery and carpeted stairs. I am a 74 year old "Granny" who, in my lifetime, has owned just about every brand of vacuum made,so I feel I am well qualified to judge this vacuum. I have been using an Oreck upright and a top of the line Kenmore cannister vac. As soon as I received the vac, I naturally had to try it out immediately. First, I tried in on a 20' long by 3' wide hall runner. I vacuum this runner almost daily as my two cats love to sleep on it. I was SHOCKED at what this vacuum got out of this runner. I had to empty it before I was halfway down the hall. The runner now looks like new. I had the same experience with all the other rugs and carpets in my home. I am truly impressed and actually feel like everything is clean. The vac is very easy to push (it feels like it is self-propelled). I couldn't be more pleased and highly recommend this vac.
This Hoover U5786900 has a well thought out design. The hoses are on the side so they don't get in the way. The wheels are rubber, so they don't scratch the wood floor. The canister with the filter has a wheel you can turn that causes it to rub against an agitator to make the heavy dust fall off. The bottom of the canister opens, so the dust falls out easily. I love the green light/red light to let me know how clean the floor is. The canister comes in and out easily also. The vacuum also works very well suction-wise. It is not self-propelled, but has so much suction that it seems to take off by itself! I looked at a lot of vacuums with goofy designs - this one is designed well and works great.
